We currently own and operate three apartment buildings, each with six units. The apartments provide safe and affordable housing for consumers who are receiving mental health services and who need assistance with housing. By placing the apartments in the local communities, we give each individual the opportunity to blend into and be a viable part of their own. Each of these units is fully furnished and self-contained.
The units connect to a commons area. This common area encourages our tenants to provide mutual support and can also be utilized for group functions. Two of these units are located in Mercer County while the third is located in Van Wert County. To assist those clients with families, we have built a three-bedroom duplex, also located in Mercer County. Apartments are in local communities. Fully furnished and fully contained. Units are connected to a common area.
To further assist our consumers with mental health issues, we built a Drop in Center, located at 407 N. Franklin in Van Wert. This center provides a meeting place where member of the consumer support groups Challenged Higher can socialize and develop programs and services that assist them in their recovery process. The center offers numerous programs and activities. For further, information about their activities or to arrange a tour of any of our housing facilities, please call our Housing Coordinator Pam Oechsle at 419-232-4584. To assist us with building the apartments, we applied for and received grants totaling $1,330,141.25 from the Ohio Department of Mental Health. |
