| MRSIs mission
is to be the leader of quality and affordable housing and support services for people with
mental or emotional disabilities in the communities of west central Ohio. We are a nonprofit organization established in 1977 by a group of parents and professionals as a local alternative to the institutionalization of people with disabilities. We provide an array of services from group homes, homemaker/personal care services, vocational, recreational, and social activities, for people with mental retardation or developmental disabilities. We develop and manage affordable housing for individuals and families with mental illness. We operate a consumer self help support center for individuals with severe mental illness CORE VALUES EXCELLENCE - We strive continually to learn and improve so that we may achieve the highest ideals of individualized service. We encourage creativity, innovation, and vision so that we may achieve excellence as we fulfill the mission of MRSI. As caretakers of people with disabilities, we individually and collectively collaborate to be worthy of the trust given us by the individuals and families we serve. INTEGRITY - We deal honestly and fairly with our customers and one another. We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences. We do so in ways that are ethically based and represent the highest standards of service. Through our actions we aim to earn the trust of those we work with and serve. We are accountable to our customers and each other. RESPECT - We embrace each other's differences so that we may enrich the well being of everyone. We value the ever-changing diversity of our employees and customers. We learn from each other's creativity and talents to become richer individuals. We base our actions on the principles of inclusion, empathy, and dignity. SUCCESS We will strive to encourage our employees and customers to contribute at their full potential. Everyone can make a difference. We understand our priorities and performance goals. We will strive to do our part every day. We will take action to find and correct problems. We will commend each other on a job well done. We will provide our employees and customers the necessary resources and training to maximize their full potential. |
|
| We strive to make inclusion a reality for the individuals we
serve. Our purpose is to maximize each individuals potential by providing
intensive real life learning opportunities. This is accomplished by having the same
expectations for our consumers as we have for ourselves. Consumers participate in
normal everyday activities such as performing hygiene tasks, going to work, preparing
meals, grocery shopping, visiting friends, performing household chores, maintaining
finances or enjoying leisure time activities individually or in small groups.

We encourage our consumers to actively participate and be a part of the community in which they live. We ensure they have access to church, movies, shopping, festivals/fairs, restaurants, sporting events, etc. Staff provides needed transportation and support and assist consumers in making arrangements. We encourage family members to take an active part in the lives of the individuals we serve. Currently, we have a number of consumers who attend the church of their choice. In some cases, staff transports and remains with the individuals, if needed. In other cases, family members or community volunteers become involved in the individuals lives and take them to church.

We own and operate an eight-bed group home in Celina, the Mud Pike Home. This home is an Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR). We manage the Thomas Edison Group Home, also an eight bed home located in Van Wert. These home require 24 hour staffing seven days a week. We provide individualized training based on the needs and desires in the area including but not limited to daily living skills, academic functions, human sexuality and life safety skills. Any consumer who has a documented need for a behavior plan will receive the least intrusive most effective goal oriented plan available. |

Our Community Based Services Division provides homemaker/personal care to consumers who live in their own homes. Some of these consumers live in their own apartments and need just a few hours of support a week, while other consumers may live with one or two other individuals in a house and require 24 hour staffing. Services we provide closely resemble those services offered in our eight bed group homes. |
